Planned student work to meet specific educational goals and maintained daily records of student work. Researched and developed lesson plans in four subjects including U.S. History, European History, Geography and Western Civilization. Analyzed and corrected student essays and other academic work and prepared reports on student progress. Coached eight teams in three sports. Served as Director of Resident Life and dormitory parent.

Professional Experience

Arts Curricula Development and Implementation

Scott is a respected blues in the schools educator and curriculum developer affiliated with the Blues Foundation. He has created and implemented programs in several school districts, colleges, universities and arts organizations including Chicago, IL, Hall County, GA, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, The Kent School, (Kent, CT), Phillips Andover Academy (Andover, MA), Waynflete School (Portland, ME), Colby College (Waterville, ME), George Mason University (VA) and others. Scott has worked collaboratively with several recognized authorities in the blues in the Schools field including Billy Branch, Fruteland Jackson, Fernando Jones, and Walter Liniger.

2002. Contracted by Floyd-Montgomery Regional Library System to conduct one-hour workshops for Summer Reading Series.

2001 Contracted by Lyric Theater, Blacksburg, VA to conduct one-hour workshops for Blacksburg City middle school and high school students.

1999 Contracted by George Mason University, Fairfax, VA to create a "Delta Blues Field Study Program." Established budget, developed curriculum, organized travel itinerary and lodging for two week on site program.

1992. Contracted by Blues in the Schools Education Fund, Charleston, SC to develop curricula and workshops for a six-week after-school program for middle school students in Charleston, SC City Schools. Also hired and trained instructors for similar program for Columbia, SC City Schools.

1991. Contracted by Superintendent of Schools, Charleston, SC to create an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrated a Blues in the Schools curriculum into the existing eighth grade curriculum. Worked with internationally recognized blues academic Walter Liniger.

1989. Contracted as instructor for Blues in the Schools Program at the Ulyses S. Grant School, Chicago, IL by the Mayors Office of Special Events to conduct a six- week, after-school program for middle school students. Worked with nationally recognized blues artist and educator Billy Branch.

1980s Contracted to create and implement a variety of educational programs at school districts, museums and libraries that use blues music to increase awareness of African American contributions to American culture and develop greater tolerance, understanding and respect for cultural differences.
